Alby spent most of his time enjoying the finer things in life: cat treats, belly rubs, birds outside the window and watching his friend, Professor Vincent Wizoom, tirelessly toil inside his laboratory. Alby was once a stray cat and was forever grateful that Wizoom was kind enough to welcome him into his home. That is until Wizoom’s latest engineering project, a mysterious triangular gateway, went berserk and transported him to a realm filled with magic, technology, and inhabited with creatures called jumboos. Froguars, brontaurs, snorcas, tigeroons and yetiguanas are just a few of the amazing creatures that Alby encounters.
Alby quickly befriends a jumboo guide, Fremmy, that helps him on his way to find Wizoom, who is lost within the world of Jumbalot. On his journey, Alby encounters numerous obstacles that include the following: climbing the towering Mount Vesoto, fleeing dangerous jumboo pirates, dodging pulse blasts between two jumboo armies, and most importantly, Alby must find the strength to confront a jumboo leader shamefully focused on dividing and conquering all of Jumbalot. Rozer, a wolvaraptor rex, has an insatiable lust for power and is willing to intimidate, cheat and do anything to achieve his goals. Little does he know that an outsider named Alby might be the only one strong enough to face him and help heal the fractured world of Jumbalot.
The creature pictured on this page is one of many jumboos Alby encounters during his adventure within Jumbalot. This jumboo is named Troonix and she's a tricerafox (triceratops and fox hybrid) that plays an important role while assisting Alby during his search for Professor Wizoom.
The idea behind the name of Jumbalot refers to multiple animals that are jumbled together to create something new. Creatively blending animals together to mold the look and personality of a character was beyond thrilling for someone that loves fantasy stories.
Below is a map of the known regions of Jumbalot. Breathing life into this world allowed me to visualize a realm similar yet different from our own. Jumbalot has regions with comparable climates such as the following: hilly grasslands, dry deserts, snowy mountains, lush forests, and beautiful beaches. That's where the similarity ends and creativity steps in to answer a few unusual questions.
What if the snow on Jumbalot feels warm to the touch? What if fruit hanging from trees can be used as musical instruments? What if this world has streams without water, but with flowing energy? You'll need to read the book to discover if a few of these questions were answered within the world of Jumbalot.
